Important message for you all after the jump. Maruti Zen is lead image to prevent whole comic from exploding Oppo, but worth the read.
Alright, a bunch of you guys seem to need a metaphorical kick in the pants or a pat on the back to get going on things. Normally this is when I put on a cheerleader outfit and do the song and dance routine but I was informed by officers that this does not excuse my behavior and I am still getting charged for indecent exposure and need to put on pants (grumble grumble). So have a moment of Zen(pencils) instead to help get you through things. Or just admire how awesome the comic is if you are doing just fine. Or admire this maruti zen. It's just a chill little hatchback in india. So zen.

Nicely done! I couldn't agree more.
The more you bemoan the fact that bad things always happens to you, the more bad things will happen to you!
Change is the hardest (and often scariest) thing to do, but it is the best action we can take to better ourselves.

This comic strip pisses me off. I know the origin of the whole quote, and I love Stephen Fry, but I'd think someone who has lived his life suffering from mental illness would not do the whole "get over yourself" thing.
It's like telling someone who just broke their leg to get over it and go run that marathon.

I couldn't agree more. Of course, there are times when brain chemistry or external events play a part in one's feelings. But, when these are not in play, I like to think about a quote often mis-attributed to Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill. (A man who probably had his fair share of both of the alternative...)
"When you're going through hell, keep going."

But in this context it's not about getting over mental illness. Look at the comic. The man let himself get to that point, there is nothing else to blame. And sure, it sucks, but at some point you have to make an effort. That's the type of person it is aimed at. I don't know the whole segment this quote was taken from, but looking at the visual clues, that's what it takes aim at.
Self-pity isn't a mental disorder. Feeling depressed or having bad things happen to you doesn't automatically give you depression or anything like that. Is depression/bipolar disorder/OCD/insomnia etc a very disruptive force in some people's lives? Yes. Yes it can be. But some people don't have those. In fact, a lot of people don't. This is aimed at those people.

Yep. And as I told Pancho, the comic paints the picture that the man basically did nothing to get what he wanted. So in essence, he let himself get to that point. But it ends with him trying to get what he wants and making the effort. The followup comic is pretty awesome too.
